3.1 The Director gave a brief explanation for AP region '99 operating plan, which included the following 5
points; "Shaping up the AP region --", "Promote ComSoc. membership --", "Strengthen technical activities --",
"Improve member services --", and "Active chapters coordination ---".
3.2 Statistics on APR members in Region 10
The APB secretary, Dr. Yamanaka, reported the current statistics on members. A point of the report is the increase
in the rate of members joining in AP region. In the past several months, the increase has been quite large (about
40%).
3.3 Travel Grants
Student Travel Grant achievements in the past one year were reported, which were applied for INFOCOM, ICC,
ICUPC, and GLOBECOM. In the recent two conferences, ICUPC'98 and GLOBECOM'98, paper review results from
each conference TPC were directly reflected in the fair decisions for the recipients. In reply to a question from a
student attending the meeting, it has been stated that the target conferences are ICC, GLOBECOM, INFOCOM,
ICUPC, NOMS or IM.
3.4 AP Newsletter
The latest AP Newsletter No.14 was distributed at the meeting in a printed form, which included some topics such
as the APB director's message, Asia Pacific conf. calendar, and minutes of last APB meeting.
3.5 APB sponsoring sessions in GLOBECOM'98
TAC secretary, Dr. Nishikido, reported that APB didn't sponsor any session in GLOBECOM'98.
