About IEEE

Founded in 1884, the IEEE is a non-profit organization, and has more than 410,000 individual members in 150 countries. Through its members, the IEEE is a catalyst for technological innovation. IEEE is a leading authority in a broad range of areas such as computer engineering, electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics, biomedical technology, and telecommunications, naming only a few. IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world's literature in electrical engineering, computers and control technology, and hold more than 300 major conferences and 6,000 local meetings annually. Recognized as essential guides for every industry, more than 900 active IEEE standards are in use today with 700 currently in development.

About IEEE Russia Siberia Section

On 13 February 2003 IEEE Russia Siberia Section has been established through the split of the Russia Moscow section. Russia Siberia Section has the strong potential for membership growth through its big cities at Ural (in the order of population decreasing: Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, etc.), Siberia (Novosibirsk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Barnaul, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo, Tomsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita, etc.) and the Far-East (Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, etc.) Federal Districts of Russia.

IEEE is divided into 10 Regions, Russia Siberia Section belongs to Region 8, which consists of Europe, Middle East and Africa. Siberia occupies a large territory – about 76.9% of Russia's territory that is almost 17,037,142 sq.km, and includes eight time zones – from +5 to +12 GMT. It is the largest section of IEEE in the World. We are situated in the three Federal Districts of Russia: Ural (Yekaterinburg is the center), Siberia (Novosibirsk), and the Far-East (Vladivostok), with the total population of 40,565,100 people – almost 27.7% of the Russia total population. The center of the section is Novosibirsk (http://www.novosibirsk.ru) with the population of 1,396,800 people. Almost 46% of the Russia Siberia Section members live and work in Novosibirsk. Another statistics about IEEE membership in the Siberia Section shows on figure:

The IEEE Russia Siberia Section is a community for electrical and computer engineers and others with related interests. Our Section represents more than 200 individual members and serves to promote local events significant to Electrical, Computing, and Software Engineering. We offer great networking opportunities through the events that our chapters and section organize. If you are interested in the rapidly evolving and exciting field of computer systems, communications, and electronics you too can join the IEEE and be part of the IEEE Russia Siberia Section.

We hold professional and technical meetings, tutorials, conferences, etc. for our members and guests.
We actively support education through our network of student branches.
We enhance our local activities with products and services from IEEE worldwide.
We recognize excellence through our awards program.
We promotes the exchange of technical information and awareness of the local engineering community by: hosting evening, technical presentations and seminars on topics of current interest, organizing tours of local companies, research labs, and industrial sites, arranging for local support and participation in engineering conferences and symposia held in Siberia, arranging for industry support of projects organized by IEEE student branches and chapters.

Welcome to the Russia Siberia Section Website!

In this era of the World Wide Web, it is inevitable that we reach out to our colleagues, especially students via the most common source of information to most of us, the Internet. This website contains all information about us – events and conferences, membership, papers and some fun photos and pictures. The site provides the best services to members registered in our Section as well as introducing non-members to the exciting world of the IEEE.

Here you will find useful information about our activities that we make, as well as some of our history and achieved goals. We are aware of being in a dynamic world, where changes in technology, knowledge and culture are happening at an increasing pace, even more in the Science and Engineering fields. These changes obligate us to a quick and permanent adaptation. In this respect, our Section give to the whole professional community the knowledge and experience that make possible the scientific and technical updating, satisfying the need to improve the professional qualities of The Science and Engineering Student, updating the teaching and learning processes directed towards the formation of globally integrated professionals. Highly skilled and firm to make decisions, open to new knowledge, achieving new abilities and skills. Russia Siberia Section calls to the most distinguished professionals to present the actual world trends, besides the global reality that we have to face as change and development boosters for our region and country.

This website was designed with one main goal: to be a comprehensive online center for you to explore what the IEEE has to offer and also get in touch with us. We provide links, updates and a host of other interesting contents with the fervent hope that visitors would benefit as much as possible from what we have to offer. Besides that, we also provide the best way for student members to directly liaise with us, as well us linking you directly to the main IEEE website. These and many more you will discover as you take a travel through our website.

We would be ensure that we continue the excellence attained by the previous life of Section. For that, we are thankful for all of us who assist in our goal to promote the IEEE as a stepping stone for students to get to know the intricacies of engineering better and also assist them in attaining academic excellence.

We hope that you will find this website beneficial and have as much fun navigating it as much as we enjoyed building it!
